Eight district residents have tossed their hats into the ring for the Summerland School board of education race. Jeremy Wagner is the lone incumbent to file for reelection. It was a tale of unbalanced quarters for the Bobcat boys' basketball team, during the Dec. 28 championship game of the Summerland Holiday Tournament. The hosts lost to Walthill, 67-46. The publisher of one of the state's newest weekly newspapers has been named the Nebraska Press Women Communicator of Achievement, according to Ruth Brown, NPW COA director. A 45-mile cruise between Ewing, Orchard and Clearwater drew 15 teams to compete in the FunFest road rally, sponsored by the Summerland Advocate-Messenger and Ewing Young Members Club. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln awarded diplomas during a virtual graduation ceremony, held Dec. 19.
