Based on preliminary figures, presented to Holt County Supervisors during a July 31 meeting, the road budget will see approximately a $300,000 increase from the previous year's proposal. Two highway projects in northeast Nebraska may slow traffic. Weather permitting, work will begin July 30 on U.S. Highway 81, starting south of N-32 and proceeding 6.6 miles north from reference point 142.36 to reference point 144.99, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
