  • Holt County deputy dies in Antelope County accident

    A Wednesday evening accident on the east edge of Neligh resulted in the death of Steven Binkerd, a Holt County sheriff's deputy. Binkerd's 2012 GMC Sierra pickup slid off the highway around 10:15, Feb. 12, a half-mile east of Neligh, according to the Antelope County Sheriff's Office. The initial investigation showed Binkerd, 41, was driving west on the highway when he drifted slightly onto the shoulder.     Greg Sharpe, the voice of Husker Radio, died Friday, from pancreatic cancer, at age 61. The recent 2024 Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year recipient wass diagnosed with cancer in 2024. Sharpe provided play-by-play action for Husker football since November 2007, when he finished the final three games of the season and permanently took over in 2008.
