Two new members will join the Summerland Public School Board of Education in January. Chelsi McLain was the top write-in candidate, receiving 154 votes in Antelope County; 140, Holt County; three in Knox County and seven in Wheeler County. A week after the Nov. 5 General Election ended, it's still unclear which write-in candidates will fill vacancies on the Summerland Public School Board of Education. On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Summerland Public School will host the first Greater Nebraska Activities Conference vocal clinic. One. That's the number by which enrollment at Summerland Public Schools dropped for the 2024-25 school year. Superintendent Molly Aschoff supplied the numbers after final enrollment totals were given to the Nebraska Department of Education at the end of September. Another school bus will be added to the Summerland Public School fleet following action taken by the board of education when they met Sept. 11. According to transportation supervisor James Ramold, a new bus will need to be purchased in each of the next two years before the rotation can resume to a two-year cycle.
