The Village of Clearwater will receive $221,000 from the Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund to develop a housing project. Notification was received Sept. 9, from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development. Approximately $12.8 million in awards will be presented in the 2021 cycle. Survey results regarding street conditions in Clearwater were presented during the village board of trustees' July 12 meeting. Tyler Hillmer of Miller & Associates said results show 48% of residents commute outside of the community for work. "I thought that was a pretty high number for the size of the community," Hillmer stated. Orchard school board members took no official action, other than consent agenda items when they met in the high school business room Wednesday, Feb. 4. Orchard principal Cathy Cooper told board members negotiations with the teachers’ association had been completed, with the 2020-2021 base salary for Summerland teachers set at $35,000.
