Gilsdorf honored by Jackman family

Beastmode • Gaven Gilsdorf, a Summerland senior, was named the Beastmode Warrior Mentality lifter, Saturday. Gilsdorf completes a successful squat during Saturday's competition.
Gaven Gilsdorf received a special honor, Saturday, at the conclusion of the Orchard AAU powerlifting Meet.

Gilsdorf was presented with the Beastmode Warrior Mentality Lifter of the meet.
The award was presented by Maureen Jackman, of Ainsworth, in honor of her son, Conner, a former powerlifter for the Ainsworth Bulldogs.
Conner died, by suicide, Jan. 1.
His passion for weightlifting was evident when he competed. He wrestled and qualified for the state tournament as a junior. Conner also played football.
When he stepped into the athletic arena, a usually-reserved Conner transformed into beast mode, a competitor with a heart of gold.
After graduating from high school, Conner attended Southeast Community College in the John Deere tech program and completed the COE program at AKRS Equipment, where he worked at the time of his death.
