Tucker Stagemeyer, of Page, will serve on Governor Ricketts Youth Advisory Council.

The council consists of 25 members comprised of 14- to 19-year-old students from across Nebraska.

The group's goal is to increase communication between youth, community and government. Council members stay informed on bills, laws, policies and decisions that may impact youth in their communities and across the state.

The newly-appointed group met recently in Lincoln for a two-day workshop, learning about lobbying and advocacy.

Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education President Lanny Boswell addressed council members.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the council presented ideas on how to improve education to Ricketts.

Stagemeyer will be a freshman at O'Neill Public Schools, where he is active in FFA.

He is the son of Brent and Carla Stagemeyer.

The Governor's Advisory Council is administered by Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
