Summerland girls' wrestling team brought home its first-ever championship trophy, Monday, Dec. 4. They scored 134 points to claim the title at the West Holt Girls Invitational. Basketball enthusiasts may notice one rule change when regular-season play begins tonight. The one and one is done. Instead, the bonus - two free throws - will be awarded for common fouls committed when a team is in the bonus. Summerland School officials have until Nov. 30 to declare if the Bobcat football team will play in the eight-man division during the next two-year cycle. During the Oct. 16 board of education meeting, activities director Zach Rosenboom said the current enrollment shows 63 male students in grades nine, ten and eleven. Summerland’s high school cross country runners took part in the Class D-3 district meet, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Ainsworth Golf Course. Due to impending weather, the meet was held a day early.
