Bobcats will face Lincoln Lutheran in state tourney opening round

The Summerland Bobcat volleyball team will meet Lincoln Lutheran in the opening round of the 2023 Class C2 Nebraska School Activities Association State volleyball Championships.

The first serve will be at 5 p.m., Thursday, at Pinnacle Bank Arena's north court.

The semifinal match will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, on the south court at PBA.

Saturday's championship is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Devaney Center. The consolation match is slated for 3 p.m. at Lincoln Northeast, at 2635 North 63rd Street.

Lincoln Lutheran enters as the top seed, boasting a 33-2 record. The Warriors fell to Kearney Catholic during the Centennial Conference tournament and to Norris.

The two teams met last year in the Class C2-1 district final, which the Warriors won in three sets.

The Warriors are led by senior outside hitter Sophie Wohlgemuth, who averages 4.2 kills and averages .317 in hitting. Mckenzie Sidlo, a freshman middle hitter, averages .312 hitting per game.

Sophomore Bella Sjuts leads the warriors with 48 blocks and junior Keri Leimbach has 50 ace serves this season.

Lincoln Lutheran swept Maxwell to advance to the state tournament.

The Bobcats last appearance at the state tournament was in 2019. They dropped the opening round match to Grand Island Central Catholic.
