United States Armed Forces' veterans were recognized, Friday, during a Veterans Day program, at Summerland Public School. The patriotic program included Brogan Billings and Dawson McLain leading the audience in saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Junior Jaycee Reynolds welcomed all veterans in attendance. Madison Melcher turned her story into FFA history. The 2022 Summerland Public School graduate is the first FFA chapter member to receive the American FFA Degree, according to advisor Jacob Goldfuss. Summerland School officials have until Nov. 30 to declare if the Bobcat football team will play in the eight-man division during the next two-year cycle. During the Oct. 16 board of education meeting, activities director Zach Rosenboom said the current enrollment shows 63 male students in grades nine, ten and eleven.
