Oh, so true.

It’s also why I look forward to attending two industry conventions, which take place annually in April.

Nebraska Press Women and Nebraska Press Association conventions offer workshops and panel discussions that reinforce our mission here at SAM. They also provide food for thought.

That can be dangerous.

After attending the NPA get-together in Kearney, Scott and I poured over our notes, tossed around ideas presented and agreed to implement several new elements.

You won’t find a complete makeover here, although we will be working with a consultant to fine-tune certain elements of SAM. When that happens, we hope readers will share feedback.

One thing we did implement immediately is a regional calendar of events, which appears in the left-hand rail on Page 1. While we believe in the importance of supporting and living local, sometimes regional events grab our attention. We hope you find them of interest, too.

Some of the ideas we’ve contemplated and studied will be rolled out over the next month or so. Not to tip our hat, but we encourage you to share your thoughts with us as we make adjustments.

Maybe it’s the former teacher in me ... change is healthy, a continuous process that allows for growth. Becoming stagnant - settling for anything but the best - is not for me. That’s why lifelong learning, whether about font types, photograhy or advertising sales, and how those topics translate into success on the pages of SAM, will always be important.
