Bearinger medals at Niobrara/Verdigre Invite

Chip shot • Kelton Bruhn knocks a short ball onto the green at a meet earlier this season. He shot 117 at the Niobrara/Verdigre Invite, Wednesday.

Daley Bearinger shot 95, finishing 12th at the Niobrara/Verdigre Golf Invite, held May 5, at the Niobrara course.

Bearinger was 15 shots off the lead, won by Tim Atkinson, of Boyd County. He finished with an 80.

A pair of Neligh-Oakdale golfers finished in the second and third spots. Garret Belitz edged teammate Jesse Green by a stroke, 87-88. Schuyler Mustin of Stuart finished fourth, shooting an 89. He tied with Gavin Longsdorf, NO, and Michael Vanness of Wausa.

Anthony Heiser, Stuart, finished with 90; Tug Dawson, Wausa, shot 92; and Skylar Reestman, Elgin Public/Pope John, Mason Mackeprang, Bloomfield and Max Hollman, NV all ended with 93.

Neligh-Oakdale claimed the team title, shooting 360. Wausa finished second, with 378.

The Bobcats ended sixth in the eight-field tournament, shooting 414.

Avery Cheatum shot 100, Kellen Mlnarik finished with 102 and Kelton Bruhn carded a 117 in varsity action.

Two Bobcat golfers competed in junior varsity competition. Julie Olivan finished with 139, while Alanna Doll ended with 152.
