Bobcats finish fourth at Gator invite, split dual matches

History made • James Kester (left) wins the 138-pound division championship at the Wisner-Pilger Invite, Saturday, Jan. 11. Kester's win cemented his name in Bobcat wrestling history, as he is the first Summerland wrestler to win an individual title.

Summerland wrestlers competed in two events last week.

On Thursday, the grapplers traveled to Elkhorn Valley for a triangular with Madison and EV.

The Bobcats downed the Dragons, 57 to 12 before falling to EV, 46-33.

Between matches, several Summerland youth wrestling team members competed against Elkhorn Valley's youth squad.

The team finished fourth in Saturday's outing at the Wisner-Pilger Invite.

Six wrestlers earned individual medals.

James Kester finished first in his division.

Alex Thiele, Rafe Grebin and Colton Thiele each earned bronze medals.

Tyler Bellar and Anthony Ferris landed in fourth place in their respective weight classes.
