Crofton defeats Summerland

In a fast-paced, high scoring Friday night contest, the Crofton Warriors relied on 24 points in the final quarter to seal the win against Summerland, 50-36.

Crofton took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Bobcats refused to go quietly into the hot August night, setting up a 28-26 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Then, Crofton's Wyatt Tramp went to work, scoring two touchdowns before the Bobcats responded with a pass into the end zone, pulling within six.

But Tramp wasn't finished. He scored on a 40-yard run to give the Warriors the lead and win.

Summerland quarterback, Michael Koenig, hit 66% of his passes, connecting on 22 of 33 attempts. His favorite targets: juniors Alec Schindler and Sam Cheatum, who combined for 10 catches for 220 yards.

Keaton Thiele led the Bobcat defense with 20 tackles, including seven solo takedowns. Ethan Kester added 11 tackles.

The Bobcats will face Boyd County, Friday, Sept. 1, in a 7 p.m. contest at home.
