The Creighton/Plainview junior legion baseball team traveled to Orchard, June 17, for a battle versus Tri-County.

Creighton/Plainview came away with the 13-0 win over Tri-County. According to Tri-County skipper Jeff Shabram, Creighton's Taylor Nilson threw a masterful 60-pitch shutout, as he was supported by stellar Creighton/Plainview defense.

"Tri-County did a nice job putting the ball in play, but the defense was positioned perfectly to make the play on the ball," Shabram said. "And even though the score may not indicate, Tri-County's defense continues to improve each night. Over the course of the past couple weeks, we have cut our errors in half each game."

Friday's tilt saw only two Tri-County errors and solid plays on the ball.

Shabram said Creighton/Plainview has a complete lineup of very good hitters and many of the hits in this game were "seeing eye" singles that just blooped their way in between the infield and outfield.

Landon McAllister was the starting pitcher and threw two innings.

Then, the third inning had a lot of Creighton/Plainview hits while scoring seven runs.

William Drobny came in to pitch in relief for two innings, including a scoreless fourth.

"But then, the fifth inning saw the Creighton/Plainview bats come to life again," Shabram said.

Wyatt Shabram went in to pitch to finish out the night getting three outs on 13 pitches.

Shabram said this game was another positive step forward for the development of the Tri-County Titans.

"If we take away just two innings, then the score ends in a much more competitive clash,"

Tri-County travels to O'Neill Friday, June 24, for an 8 p.m. game. This is a change from the originally-scheduled 7 p.m. start time.

The league tournament is set for Monday and Tuesday, June 27 and 28 in Creighton.
