Six advance to general election in school board race

Pillen, Blood lead gubernatorial candidates

Moving on • Austin Twibell, Jeremy Wagner, LuAnn Schindler, Mark Ramold, Scott Thiele and Mia Bergman will advance to November's general election for seats on the Summerland Board of Education. They were the top six voter-getters in the May 10 primary.

Voter turnout in the May 10 primary election was more than 40% in Holt and Antelope counties.

Summerland Board of Education

A summary report from Antelope County Clerk Lisa Payne shows 49.68% of voters cast ballots in Royal; 46.63% voted in Clearwater and 46.39% made their way to the polls in Orchard.

Holt County Clerk Cathy Pavel confirmed 41% of registered voters visited the polls.

Summerland Board of Education

Three seats are up for election for the Summerland School Board of Education. Six candidates - Austin Twibell, Jeremy Wagner, LuAnn Schindler, Mark Ramold, Scott Thiele and Mia Bergman advance to the November election.

Twibell led the field with 352 votes from the four-county area. Wagner, an incumbent, received 324, followed by Schindler, 296; Ramold, 295; Thiele, 264 and Bergman, 260.

Dan Kerkman and Brian Ferris received 253 and 81 votes, respectively.

Antelope County Commissioner District 1

Neil Williby received 299 votes and Don Lallier earned 38 votes.

Antelope County Commissioner District 2

Regina Krebs topped the field of three candidates, earning 128 votes. Eddie Schindler received 95 and Patti Brady, 23.

Antelope County Commissioner District 5

Keith Heithoff defeated Casey Dittrich, 175 to 120.

Holt County Supervisor

District 1

Incumbent Joshua G. Treptow received 198, defeating Dean Sidak, who received 145 votes.

Holt County Supervisor

District 7

Duane Neiman led a field of three candiates for the District 7 seat. He received 176 votes. Bob Weber finished 108 and John W. Vogel, 65.

legislature District 40

Barry DeKay received 4,426 votes in the race for the District 40 legislative seat.

He will face Keith Kube, who received 3,176 votes.

Mark Patefield finished third, with 3,063 votes and Robert Johnston ended with 1,621.

Johnston carried Antelope County, while DeKay received the most votes in Holt County.

Governor

Jim Pillen was declared the Republican primary winner, gathering 91,171 - or 33.89% of the vote across the state.

Charles W. Herbster received 80,386 votes, while Brent Lindstrom received 70,177 votes.

Antelope County Republican voters gave Pillen 691 votes, while Herbster received 515. Lindstrom trailed with 200.

In Holt County, Herbster outpaced Pillen, with 1,133 votes to Pillen's 764 votes. Lindstrom received 430.

Carol A. blood received the nod for the Democratic Party, receiving 88.74% of the statewide vote, while her challenger, Roy A. Harris, finished with 11,191 votes.

Libertarian Scott Zimmerman received 1,583 votes.

Secretary of State

Bob Evnen received 43.88% of the vote, or 97,589 votes, statewide, to win. Robert J. Borer received 32.19% of the vote, and Rex Schroeder received 53,379 votes , totaling 23.93%.

Antelope County voters favored Borer, casting 543 votes in his favor. Holt County voters favored Evnen by a narrow margin. Evnen received 214 votes and Schroeder was close, with 209.

State Treasurer

Libertarian Katrina Tomsen received 1,858 votes, clinching her party's nomination.

John Murante defeated Paul Anderson, 121,310 to 92.079.

Murante received 49 votes in Antelope County, while Anderson received 540.

Murante claimed 990 Holt County votes, to Anderson's 956.

Attorney General

The race for the state's attorney general will include Legal Marijuana Now party candidate Larry Bolinger and Mike Hilgers, a Republican Party candidate.

Hilgers defeated Jennifer Hicks, 67% to 33%.

Auditor for Public Accounts

A three-way race for the state's auditor position will include Mike Foley, Republican candidate, who defeated Larry Anderson; Gene Siadek, Libertarian Party and L. Leroy Lopez, a Legal Marijuana Now party candidate.

House of Representatives

Adrian Smith earned 76% of the votes, statewide, to receive the Republican nomination.

He will face David J. Else, a Democratic Party nominee, who received 52.22% of the vote, and Mark Elworth, Jr., who will represent the Legal Marijuana Now Party.

Eighty percent of Antelope County voters favored Smith, while 73.76% of Holt County voters cast ballots in Smith's favor.

Antelope County voters followed the statewide trend on the Democratic ticket, giving Else the edge, while in Holt County, Wik received 56.41% of the vote.

University of Nebraska Regents

In the District 6 race, which includes Antelope County, Paul Kenney defeated Julie Hehnke, 22,389 to 21,158.

Holt County selected Matt Williams in the District 7 race. He defeated Kathy Wilmot, who received 807 votes and Nolan Gurnsey, who finished with 379 votes.

State Board of Education

In a non-partisan race in Antelope County, Sherry Jones topped Danielle Helzer on the state board of education.

Holt County voters selected Elizabeth Tegtmeier for the District 7 seat on the state board of education. She outdistanced Pat Moore, who finished with 523 and Robin Stevens earned 379.
