Bobcat boys' track, field team claims team title

Toss up • Luis Mendoza throws the shot put 39' 7" during the Summerland Track and Field Invite, held April 26. Mendoza placed third in the event.

In the first-ever Summerland Track and Field Invite, the Bobcat boys' team scored 125 points, winning the team title.

St. Mary's finished second, with 98 points.

Multiple athletes earned medals, including first-place wins by Trevor Thomson, Alec Schindler and the 4x100 relay team.

Athletes competing and their placings include:

Thomson: 100m, first, 11.19;

Jaykwon Petite: 100m, sixth, 12.23;

Schindler: 100m, seventh, 12.24; 300m hurdles, 1st, 46.25; triple jump, first, 38' 4.5";

Sam Cheatum: 300m hurdles, second, 52.44; triple jump, fifth, 34' 2.5";

Kendrick Schroeder: 200m, fourth, 25.27

Connor Thomson: 200m, 12th, 28.56;

Willis Mast: 200m, 14th, 30.63; pole vault, fifth, 7';

David Arroyo: 400m, fifth, 58.59;

Colby Hupp: 400m, 14th, 1:14.75;

Logan Eacker: 800m, fifth, 2:25.44;

Carter Bergman: 800m, seventh, 2:30.65; 300m hurdles, fourth, 55.26; high jump, third, 5' 8";


Ruger Switzer: high jump, fourth, 5' 6"; long jump, third, 17' 4.5";

Anthony Ferris: 800m, eighth, 2:30.84; pole vault, second, 8' 6";

Parker Napier: pole vault, second, 8'; long jump, sixth, 16' 8";

AJ Hobbs: 1600m, fourth, 5:33.41;

Alex Thiele: 1600m, sixth, 5:45.14;

Preston Hoke: 1600m, 11th, 6:01.91;

Levi Cronk: long jump, 17th, 12';

Luis Mendoza: shot put, third, 39' 7";
