Aislynn Kester cools off halfway through the course at Butte. She finished 11th in the meet.

Summerland boys' and girls' cross country teams finished fourth in their respective divisions at Boyd County meet, held Sept. 9, in Butte.

In the girls' race, Aislynn Kester ran 24:45, crossing the finish line in 11th place. Aubrey Parker ended 12th, 25:03. Danielle Schrunk finished just out of medal contention, finishing 16th. Maddie Davis, of West Holt, won the girls' individual title, running 20:25.

The team finished with 33 points. North Central won the event, scoring 12 points and Neligh-Oakdale ended second, with 15.

Coach Shannon Schumacher said Schrunk trimmed six minutes off her time on the course from last year's meet.

"That is just amazing," he said.

West Holt claimed the boys' team title, with 14 points. North Central finished in the runner-up spot, scoring 18 points. The

Bobcats finished with 39 points. North Central runners finished in the top two spots. Raden Orton won the race, running 17:07. Mason Hagen crossed second, in 17:35.

Jesse Thiele paced the Bobcats, finishing in the 11 spot, with a time of 20:12. Alex Thiele ended in 13th, running 20:24. Parker

Napier ran 21:55 to finish 19th.

Overall, Schumacher thought his squad had a strong showing.

"The Thieles both knocked a couple minutes of off last year's times. Parker is getting stronger each week. Aislynn ran strong and is getting closer and closer to that top 10 finish. Aubrey ended up 12th in her first meet ever."

On Monday, runners raced around the Antelope Country Club course.

Three girls earned medals, including Aislynn Kester, 15th; Danielle Schrunk, 17th and Ellie Dougherty, 19th.

Times from Monday's girls' race were unavailable at press time.

In the boys division, Alex Thiele placed 14th, finishing in 19:31. Jesse Thiele ran 20:12 and Parker Napier, 22:14.

Schumacher said, "The kids are working hard and progressing in the right direction, if they keep working hard, we are hoping that their times peak somewhere close to districts. We are very young this year with zero seniors on the team, so the future is looking bright."

The Bobcats will compete in the O'Neill Invite, Friday. The girls' race will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the boys' event to follow.
