In what may well become Antelope County's first election by mail resulted in voter turnout of 47.62%, according to county clerk Lisa Payne.

Of the 4,488 registered voters in the county, 2,137 individuals cast their choice for candidates, with 1,751 early voting ballots. Three hundred eighty-six were cast at polling sites across the county.

Incumbent Eli Jacob, of Clearwater, received 153 votes for district two commissioner, while Bob Krutz, of Orchard, finished with 132 votes. Donald Lallier, of Orchard, received 49 votes. Eight votes went to write-in candidates.

Jacob was sentenced April 2, in Antelope County Court, on a no contest plea to a Class 2 misdemeanor after reaching a plea deal in March with special Antelope County prosecutor Joseph Smith.

The charges stemmed from accusations that Jacob took a heating unit from the Orchard county barn, Jan. 1, 2019.

On the Republican ticket, Donald J. Trump received 1,597 votes for president in Antelope County, while Bill Weld finished with 79 votes.

Eight write-in votes were cast.

U.S. Senate incumbent, Ben Sass, edged Matt Innis, 866 to 863, with one write-in vote counted.

Rep. Adrian Smith dominated the field for the Republican congressional seat for district three.

Smith totaled 1,381 votes, followed by Justin Moran, 88; Arron Kowalski, 69; William Elfgren, 47 and Larry Lee Scott Bolinger, 46. Three write-in votes were submitted.

On the Democratic ticket, Joe Biden received 216 votes for president. Other votes were cast for Tulsi Gabbard, 22; Elizabeth Warren, 21; and Bernie Sanders, 20. Twelve write-in votes were received.

Angie Philips led the Democratic field for U.S. Senate, receiving 62 votes. Chris Janicek ended with 52; Alisha Shelton, 45; Larry Marvin, 33; Andy Stock, 29; Daniel M. Wik, 25 and Dennis Frank Macek, 16. One write-in vote was cast.

Mark Elworth, Jr., received 238 votes for the district three congressional seat. Six write-ins were reported.

On the Libertarian ticket for president, Jo Jorgensen picked up two votes, while Dan Berhman earned one vote. Five write-ins were recorded.

Gene Siadek received four votes for the U.S. Senate seat and Dustin C. Hobbs finished with five votes for the third congressional district seat.

District 41 state Senator Tom Briese received 1,665 votes for the seat he currently holds. Seventeen write-in votes were recorded.

In Holt County, Ewing voters approved a one-half center sales tax allocated as LB 840 funds, in addition the creation of board who will oversee the fund.

Issue one, which would create the tax, finished with 108 votes in favor and 30 votes against.

On Issue two, the creation of the governing body to implement the tax, was approved on a 109-29 vote.

Dustin Breiner defeated incumbent Steve Boshart, 165-133, on the Republican ticket for district two county supervisor.

In the district four supervisor's race, Republican incumbent Robert Snyder, received 145 votes, but it wasn't enough to defeat Scott Keyes, who ended with 159. A third candidate, Michael D. Stenka, finished with 61 votes.
