    During the Ewing Veterans Day program, Chris Dierks and his brother, Tom, received accepted a Gold-Star emblem from Legion Auxiliary president Kathleen Jorgensen. The emblem will be installed at the grave of Mary Sanders, great-grandmother of the Dierks brothers. Her sons, Sylvester and Leo, were killed in action at the battle of Marne, France, within one hour of each other, during World War I, on July 19, 1918. Sylvester died at age 25; Leo was 24.
