    In their inaugural debut, the Summerland Lady Bobcats picked up two wins, Aug. 24, at the Bill Marshall Classic, held in Grand Island. The Bobcats downed Axtell with identical scores of 25-20 in the first match. Ashley Koenig sent eight kills to the floor, while Sidney Stallbaum pounded another seven down the line. Koenig led the team in digs, scooping up nine, while Brenna Wagner snagged seven. In the second match, the Bobcats made short work, downing Schuyler Central, 25-9 and 25-14....

    Ewing Public Schools will celebrate homecoming festivities, beginning Monday, Aug. 26. Be on the lookout for creative costumes and decorative posters in the halls of EHS. On Monday, students will don apparel from their favorite decade, while Tuesday's garb will include hunter and camo gear.     Memorial services for Delbert “Sonny” Carl Jr., 79, of Ewing, were held Thursday, Aug. 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Presbyterian Church in Ewing, with Pastor Larena officiating. Visitation was Wednesday, July 31 from 5 -7 p.m. at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Burial will be Ewing City Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Sanders American Legion Post #214 and Legion Riders. Sonny died July 27 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
