Dori Hollenbeck proved why she's the queen of barrel racing after completing a 15.92 run during Saturday's performance at Clearwater's Big rodeo. The Winner, South Dakota, resident took home $1,365.73 for her efforts.
Hollenbeck and fellow performers in all events pocketed more than $30,000 in prize money from the three-day event sponsored by the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce.
Kyle Nall-Sillivan of St. Paul finished second in barrels, running 16.14. She received $1,130.26. Dianne Axman of Loup City ran 16.33 and earned 894.79. She edged out Camryn Kocian, who ran 16.34, finishing fourth. She earned $659.32. Taylor King of Lawton, Iowa, ended fifth, and received $423.85 for her efforts. Becky Ortmeier of Dodge received $235.47.
Sutherland's Tanner Drueke scored 81 points to claim the bareback title. He received $1381.80. Tate Miller of Springview ended second. He won $921.20 for his 80-point score.
Six competitors claimed prize money in tie down roping. Austin Madison of Onawa, Iowa, claimed first, winning $1,095.85. Dawson McMaster finished second and took home $906.91 for his 9.8 finish. Other contestants cashing in included David Hinman, Chardon, 10.9, $717.97; Luke Mead of Norfolk and Marcus Gotschall, Atkinson, fourth/fifth split, 12.2, $434.56; and Luke Madison, Lawton, Iowa, sixth, 12.4, $188.94.
In the 45 and over tie-down division, Hudson Ebmeier of Whitney received $778.32 for his 12.1 finish. Jay Hollenbeck of Valentine ran 13.3, placing second, and pocketing $648.60. Jeff Johnston, of Thedford finished in 15.9 and received $518.88. Burwell's Hudson Redman ended fourth, with a 16.6 time. He received $389.16. Brent Hurlburt of Norfolk and Mark Lovitt of Tryon tied for fifth. Both earned $129.72 for their performances.
In team roping, Johnston and Levi Tyan of Wallace took care of business in 5.3 seconds. They earned $1,731.01. Cooper Brott of Gothenburg teamed with Cole Sherwood of Coolidge, Arizona, roped the steer in 5.8 seconds. For their efforts, they received $1,432.56. The duo of Andy Knott and Dalton Pelster of Burwell received $1,134.11, finishing third. Fourth place winers included Quincy Opela of Stapleton and Matt Fattig of Brady. Their 6.5 run resulted in $835.66 in earnings. Dexton Hoelting of Olpe, Kansas, partnered with Dawson McMaster, of Madison, Kansas, and placed fifth, with a successful rope in 6.8 seconds. They received $537.21. Springview's Kit Painter and Cinch Pater ended in sixth place, with a 7.0 catch. They earned $298.35.
Oakley Ward was quick out of the gate. Her 2.1 breakaway run netted the Superior resident $1,355.57. Brandy Schaack of Hyannis was close behind, running 2.2. She earned $1,178.76. Whitney Jennings of Seneca and Reagan Davis of Padroni, Colorado, received $913.54. Both timed in at 2.3 seconds.
A three-way tie for fifth place, after 2.5 runs, put money in the pockets of Ryan Eilers of Arthur, BoDelle Hall of Sutherland, and Sydney Barlow of Ewing. Three competitors tied for eighth place with 2.6 times. Jaycee Lambert of Harrison, Bailey Hurlburt of Norfolk, and KeAnn Hayes of Broken Bow took home $39.30 apiece.
The saddle bronc title belonged to Chris Nelson of Lake Andes, South Dakota. He scored 78 points and earned $1,191.92. Garret Long of Valentine and Tayson Jones of Gayville, South Dakota both scored 77 points. Each cowboy received $744.95. Rounding out the competition was Everett Blackburn of Garden City, Kansas. He scored 73 points, pocketing $297.98.
The steer wrestling crown belonged to Beau Wiebelhaus of Springview. With a 3.9 time, Wiebelhaus took home $850.51. Cinch Painter of Spriniview placed second, following a 4.4-second performance. Conner Schutz of Elwood ended third with a 5.5 time. He earned $557.23. Lane Mead of Norfolk took home $410.59 for his 6.1 time. Kaden Wooters of Elwood ended in fifth place, taking down the steer in 6.4 seconds. He received $263.95. Hayse Pokorny of Bartlett also finished in the money. He received $146.64 with an 8.5 run.
Unfortunately, bull riders didn't have much luck in the arena. None of the 17 competitors had a qualifying ride.
