Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park opens Friday

Journey to Ashfall Fossil Beds State Historical Park this summer for a scientific getaway.

The park, located near Royal, will open May 1 for the 2026 summer season.

Observe more than 200 complete fossilized skeletons, walk the trails surrounding the park, and visit with paleontologists on site.

The park offers visitors an chance to view 12-million-year-old volcanic ash-entombed fossils, featured in the Hubbard Rhino Barn. Visitors can watch paleontologists at work through the summer.
