New scam alleges traffic fines

A new traffic-related scam currently targeting Nebraskans is circulating. Scammers are sending text messages or emails claiming the recipient has an unpaid traffic fine. The message threatens additional penalties unless the recipient clicks a link to pay the supposed fines.

"Nebraska courts do not send out automated text messages when traffic fines are due. These messages are intended to steal your personal or financial information. Do not click the link in any text or email without first checking the information," Nebraska court officials urged.
