Locals raise more than $8,300 for family of accident victims

Ewing Fire Chief Ryan Schrunk and Clearwater Assistant Fire Chief Ted Mlnarik announce donations totaling $8,364.50 were collected for the Mokhalad family of Minnesota, following a Jan. 2 accident that claimed the lives Michael Mokhalad and son, Tym, on 508 Avenue, south of Ewing. Three Mokhalad children survived the crash.

The donation includes a $2,500 match from the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce.

Donation jars were set up in Clearwater, Ewing, and Orchard. Multiple donations were sent following an online post on the Advocate-Messenger Facebook page.
