Mejia Moncada places at season opener for Bobcat speechsters

The Bobcat speech team presented 10 of its usual 23 events, Saturday, at the Practice Makes Perfekt Invite at Wisner-Pilger.

Coach Katie Andrew said the meet includes three rounds and no finals.

"Our only medalist was Jennie Mejia Moncada in poetry, finishing sixth," Andrew said. "Seven of our ten competitors on Saturday are newbies to the speech game, so they learned how a speech meet works, and they got some awesome feedback to take into the rest of their season. We were short thirteen of our regular events due to both sickness and wrestling conflicts."
