Chipps strikes gold at Norm Manstedt Invite

Summerland finished 14th in a field of 43 Class B teams at the Norm Manstedt Girls Wrestling Invitational, Jan. 8, in Columbus.

Abbey Chipps worked her way through the 120 division championship bracket to earn the first-place medal.

She opened with a win by pin, in 1:17, over Melina Bullard, Elkhorn Valley; claimed a 3-0 decision over Anna Rae Hartline, Fort Calhoun, and pinned Ord’s Hayleigh Meyers in 3:53. In the championship match, Chipps pinned Sherly Gonzalez of Aurora, in 1:12.
