Ruby was born on Nov. 21, 1941, raised in Ewing and attended Ewing High School. Ruby married Richard Lee Williamson on April 3, 1959. They were blessed with five children. The family worked and lived in Norfolk and Bellevue before moving back to the family farm, five miles north of Ewing, in 1973. In 1989, they moved to their final farm residence, two and a half miles west of Orchard. Ruby and Richard enjoyed 52 years of marriage before Richard passed away in 2011.

Ruby was a lifelong member of St. Peter de Alcantara Catholic Church in Ewing where she was baptized, confirmed and married.

Ruby and Richard spent many nights over the years at dances, where Richard played piano and Ruby and her longtime friend Connie Schultz would spend the hours laughing and dancing. Ruby and Richard enjoyed a few years, after Richard retired, traveling in their camper and going to music festivals.

After Richard passed, Ruby enjoyed concerts, travel, and casino trips with family and friends. Ruby went through many, many crossword puzzle books and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles on her iPad. Until late 2025, she continued to host all family holidays. Her ham and popcorn balls were looked forward to all year long.

Ruby will be forever missed by her five children and their spouses, Julie (Neal) Niedfeldt of Grand Island, Kevin (Mary) Williamson of Chapman, Mike (Donita) Williamson of Orchard, Brenda (Curt) Waters of Pleasant View, Utah, and Dr. Teresa Marts of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-Law JoAnn Lilly and Janet and Patricia Carl, several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Richard, parents Delbert Carl Sr. and Adeline Ruroede, grandmother Josephine Elston, and brothers Marvin and Delbert, Jr. "Sonny" Carl.
