Summerland's girls basketball team controlled their destiny, Dec. 30, in the championship tournament. After jumping to a 15-2 lead over Winside, the girls cruised to a 49-38 victory.
Winside's defense held Summerland to seven points in the second quarter, narrowing the margin to 22-20 at the half.
But the Bobcats roared back in the third quarter, adding 19 points to the cause and finished with eight in the final stanza.
Kanyon Allemang led the team with 22 points. Jenna Funk powered her way to the boards, grabbing a dozen rebounds.
