The girls' wrestling season began Thursday, as Summerland traveled to Wisner-Pilger for a season opener against Wayne and Northeast Nebraska.
Wayne downed the Bobcats, 60-24. Summerland defeated NEN, 60-18.
Ava Cleveland started the season with two wins by fall. Cleveland competed in the 115 division. She pinned Kaitlyn Mahaney, NEN, in :50, and Hadley Woehler of Wayne, in 1:16.
In the 120 class, Abbey Chipps pinned Bella Thacker, NEN, in :33, and against Wayne, Chipps pinned Leilah Bratcher, Wayne, in :21.
