Clearwater zoning commission approved a zoning change for property at 800 Montana Street during a Dec. 2 public hearing. The change from single-family residential to agricultural classification will allow for a cell tower to be constructed on the property, which is owned by the Village of Clearwater.
Several Clearwater zoning proposals cleared their first hurdle Dec. 2, as the local zoning commission held a public hearing at the Clearwater Public Library.
The first request involved Parcel #000660500, 800 Montana St., shifting the property from R-1 single-family residential to A-1 agriculture. The change would allow consideration of a conditional use permit for a 194-foot U.S. Cellular tower.
Resident Brian King sought clarification, noting he and his aunt, Joy Knapp, own adjacent property. Andy Bodrytzke, representing SMJ, said U.S. Cellular hopes to improve rural coverage.
