Zoning commission advances Clearwater cell tower, housing amendments

Several Clearwater zoning proposals cleared their first hurdle Dec. 2, as the local zoning commission held a public hearing at the Clearwater Public Library.

The first request involved Parcel #000660500, 800 Montana St., shifting the property from R-1 single-family residential to A-1 agriculture. The change would allow consideration of a conditional use permit for a 194-foot U.S. Cellular tower.

Resident Brian King sought clarification, noting he and his aunt, Joy Knapp, own adjacent property. Andy Bodrytzke, representing SMJ, said U.S. Cellular hopes to improve rural coverage.
