Kester makes state XC debut

Freshman cross country runner Isabella Kester set her sights on the state cross country championships earlier this year.

On Friday, she competed in the Class D girls’ division and completed a tough course at the Kearney Country Club in 21:45.8.

Kester finished 55th in a field of 121 competitors.

Avery Arens, of Crofton, won the title, crossing the finish line in 17:29. Delanie Runners, of Niobrara Verdigre, and Rarity Cournoyer, Gordon-Rushville, both stepped across the tape in 6:16.

McCool Junction claimed the team trophy and Crofton placed second....
