Grand Island man arrested after shooting at state troopers

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in Grand Island. There were no injuries in the shooting.

At approximately 6:40 a.m., investigators with the NSP Technical Crimes Unit were serving a search warrant at a residence at 921 East Oklahoma Avenue in Grand Island. The search warrant was in relation to a child pornography investigation.

Preliminary information shows that as investigators attempted to perform the search warrant, the resident, Justin Jelinek, fired a gun from inside the home. A trooper returned fire. Nobody was struck...
