The apex of the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial replica lists the first and last casualties of war. The replica was on display in Spencer, Aug. 28 to Sept. 2.
Clusters of individuals gathered near black panels assembled at the Spencer ball field, scanning the white text for names of loved ones, sharing stories from the past and honoring the memory of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
The Wall that Heals, a three-quarter scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, was on display in the Boyd County community, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 2. Since 1996, the traveling memorial has been on exhibit in all states except Alaska.
The replica contains names of the 58,821 veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
