Local fire departments respond to mutual aid call in Wheeler County

Approximately 29 fire departments responded Monday to a mutual aid call for a field fire in Wheeler County, which began on a county road and burned east approximately eight miles, jumping Highway 281 multiple times.

Three airplane pilots assisted with the wildfire, in addition to area farmers and water tank drivers.
