Ed Committee advances bill tying minimum teacher pay to Nebraska superintendents

A legislative committee voted Thursday to advance a bill that could lead to increased teacher pay, setting beginning compensation as a fraction of superintendent pay.

Education Committee members voted 6-0, with one member absent and another "present, not voting," to advance Legislative Bill 300, from State Sen. Dave Murman of Glenvil, the committee chair. The bill would require that beginning teachers be paid no less than 20% of what a school district pays its superintendent.
