Reliable, Trustworthy Reporting, Capturing The Heartbeat Of Our Community
Leadership • Educational Service Unit 8 offers extensive special educational services. Leaders in the ESU 8 special education department include (l-r): Jesse Zavadil, ESU 8 assistant administrator; Toni Arehart, ESU 8 assistant SPED director; Abbey Andress, Northeast Nebraska Program for Children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Coordinator; Ruth Miller, ESU 8 SPED director; Mary Johnson, vision instructor; and Cathy Fiala, school psychologist coordinator.
Educational Service Unit #8 is has a long-standing commitment to supporting its special education department, which has been expanding to meet the growing needs of special needs students in the school systems. Covering 34 public and non-public school districts across northeastern Nebraska, ESU #8 has been a cornerstone in education since the beginning of 1967. When ESU #8 started, it consisted of very few special education staff members.
