Summerland manhandles Falcons in opening round of football playoffs

Summerland scored 24 first-quarter points en route to a 45-8 win over Elkhorn Valley in the first round of the Class D1 State Football Playoffs.
The game, played at Summerland on Oct. 24, sets up a second-round game for the Bobcats. A 6 p.m. kickoff is scheduled for Nov. 1, when the South Loup Bobcats travel to the local Bobcat territory.
Bobcat skipper Tom Thramer said the visiting Bobcats - a cooperative comprised of Arnold and Callaway Public schools - run a variety of defensive fronts that try to confuse blocking schemes.
