Bobcat tracksters have strong showing in Hartington

Alec Schindler struck gold in the 110m hurdles, a second ahead of the second-place finisher at the Hartington-Newcastle invitational track and field meet, April 15. Schindler ran 16.89 to claim the title. He picked up a second gold medal in the 300m hurdles, running 44.20. Schindler ended in fifth place in triple jump after landing at 38' 7.5 inches.

Parker Napier brought home a silver medal in the 300m hurdles. He crossed the finish line in 45.58. In long jump, Napier set a personal record and earned a bronze medal. He jumped 19' 8.5 inches.

Gavin Whiting set a personal record in shot put, throwing 49' eight inches. He picked up a silver medal for his efforts. Whiting ended in sixth place in discus, setting a PR with a toss of 127' five inches.

The 4x400 relay team, comprised of Ethan Kester, AJ Hobbs, Melvin Mast and Preston Hoke ended in second place, running 4:01.03.

Mast cleared six feet in high jump, setting a personal record. He finished second.

Ryan Rifer placed third in high jump, clearing 5' 10 inches. Rifer also finished eighth in the 800m, running 2:35.39.

Ruger Switzer ended fourth in high jump, reaching 5' 10 inches. He also placed ninth in the 100m, running 12.13, a PR. In long jump, Switzer reached 18' eight inches, placing eighth.

Hoke picked up a fifth-place medal in the 400m, running 59.71. He set a PR in triple jump, reaching 37' 11 inches.

Rifer, Rogan Robertson, Zander Cepel and Beau Ahlers ran 10:50.62, placing sixth in the 4x800 relay.

Robertson set a personal record in the 1600m, crossing the tape in 5:45.80.

Carter Bergman ended in seventh place in high jump after he cleared 5' 6 inches. In triple jump, Bergman set a PR, with a jump of 38' five inches.

Cepel placed eighth in the 1600m, running 5:48.70. Cepel also finished in eighth place in the 3200m. He ran 13:39.74.

Dewayne Baker: 800m, 13th, 2:44.70, PR;

Luis Perez: 1600m, 13th, 6:28.93, PR; 3200m, 11th, 15:47.59;

Connor Thomson: 100m, 14th, 12.91; 200m, 11th, 26.79;

Tucker Dougherty: 800m, 15th, 2:51.76;

Shayne Jenkins: 100m, 17th, 13.07; 200m, 19th, 29.30;

Ahlers: 400m, 15th, 1:17.88; long jump, 17th, 14' 9.5 inches;

Alec Kester: 400m, 16th, 1:17.88;

Jason Shaver: shot put, 17th, 32' eight inches;

Kevin Lopez: shot put, 24th, 26' two inches, PR; discus, 72' 11", PR;

Matthew Umphress: discus, 19th, 80', PR;

4x100 relay: Napier, Hoke, Schindler, Switzer, fourth, 47.74.
