A duplex project in Clearwater received the 2024 Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund Award last week.

The duplex, developed by Stearns Construction, was possible, in part, with a NAHTF grant of $221,000, which included new construction costs and homebuyer assistance.

Groundbreaking for the site took place on Oct. 27, 2022. A ribbon cutting and open house were held Aug. 10, 2023.

The units were sold in November and December 2023.

Each unit of the duplex, designed for homeowners, covers 1,085 square feet and include two bedrooms, one bathroom, laundry room, storage area, kitchen, dining and living rooms and a single-car garagae.

Clearwater economic development director, Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen worked with Stearns and Miller & Associates to "create a plan that benefits Clearwater for the long haul." The application was submitted in April 2021 and the award was announced in September 2021.
