Individuals who have Optum or United Healthcare insurance will have a new option for filling prescriptions.

Optum and United Healthcare no longer cover prescription costs at blood Pharmacy locations. Hilltop Drugs, Etc., closed its doors in January. Both situations have caused a gap in local care, according to Ashley Dendinger, owner of Plainview Family Pharmacy. Her business will continue to offer services to Optum and UH customers who rely on Neligh-based pharmacies.

"We're offering a solution and hopefully bridging a gap," she said. "Ultimately, our heart goes out to the patients. They know and love independent-owned pharmacies."

Plainview Family Pharmacy will offer daily delivery, upon request, to Antelope County communities at no charge. Delivery cutoff time is 2 p.m. Otherwise, prescriptions will be delivered the next day.

The pharmacy offers medical compliance packing free of charge.

Dendinger, who lives with her family in Hartington, is a South Dakota State University graduate. She previously worked at Steffen Drug in Hartingon and has owned Plainview Family Pharmacy for four years.
