Four headed to girls' state wrestling championships

Bobcat wrestler Raina Krebs consoles opponent Morgan Hawkins, Ansley-Litchfield, after Krebs claimed the district title against Hawkins, Friday, in York.

Ava Cleveland, Kaylee Thiele, Ammy Arroyo and Raina Krebs will represent Summerland at the 2024 Girls' State Wrestling Championships this week.

The Bobcats finished third in district competition, Feb. 9, in York.

Cleveland was perfect in her bracket in the 110-pound class, with wins over Khloe Wiseman, Adams Central, Ayshia Delancey, Logan Valley and Drea Kruse, Skutt.

Thiele finished third at 135. She opened with a win over Eva Kriener, Marian and lost to Alexis Pehrson, Skutt. In the heartbreak round, Thiele won 3-0 over Makaela Davis, Bellevue and won by forfeit in the third-place match.

Arroyo opened with wins over Taj-Marie Cook, Benson and Madison Kuchta, Cedar Catholic, before falling to Martha Hinneh, Marian in the first-place match in the 190-pound class.

Krebs worked her way through the 235-pound bracket, with wins over Kaylin Petersen, Marian, Lizbeth Gonzalez, West Point-Beemer and Morgan Hawkins, Ansley-Litchfield.

Other Bobcat competitors included Lenora Kester, Abbey Chipps and Gracie Mudloff.
