Bobcats split games in holiday tourney

Through the middle • Preston Hoke drives the lane between Ainsworth's Trey Appelt and Carter Nelson. Saturday's game came down to the wire, with the Bulldogs defeating the Bobcats, 58-55.

Summerland's boys' basketball squad opened holiday tournament play with a solid win over West Holt and met a physical Ainsworth team, Saturday, who handed the Bobcats a loss.

In Thursday's game against the Huskies, Summerland opened with a 17-13 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched the margin to 32-25 at the half.

Then, the Bobcat defense upped its game, holding West Holt to 13 second-half points to secure a 61-38 win.

The Bobcats shot 53% from the two-point range and made 10-15 free throws.
