Conference alignment, civics requirements top school board agenda

Summerland board of education members will learn how the district approaches the state’s American civics requirement when the board meets in regular session, Wednesday, Dec. 13.

The meeting is scheuled to begin at 6 p.m., in the board room.

Per state statute, the American civics Committee is required to meet twice annually when public testimony can be entered into the record.

Also included in new business, board members will discuss the 2024-2025 certificated staff negotiated agreement, take action on staff resignations, review the district’s annual report and review the superintendent’s evaluation.

The administrative team will provide an update on the district’s emergency operation plan.

Discussion on a potential new activity conference is also included on the agenda. Finke presented information at the November meeting about talks taking place with seven other area schools. No action will be taken on the agenda item on the 13th.

The district’s agenda includes a tentative list of items and may be changed up to 24 hours before the start of the meeting.

A copy of the agenda will be available at the administrative office at school during normal business hours.
