Joel Christopher Pruden, son of John Lee and Barbara Ann (Mutchler) Pruden was born March 25, 1961, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He was baptized at the Ewing Methodist Church. Joel attended Ewing Public School and graduated with the class of 1980. Following graduation, Joel attended Northeast Technical College in Norfolk, receiving education as a utility lineman, along with farm and ranch management. In 1982, Joel moved to Loveland, Colorado, and worked for TCI, a cable company, in Boulder and Steamboat Springs.

On June 2, 1990, Joel married Marvi Louise Thomas in Loveland. Joel worked installing satellite dishes and at Monfort Portions as a purchasing agent assistant. Joel took a break from the work force and, with friends, built a home in Lyons, Colorado, for the couple. In 2004, the couple moved off the mountain to Longmont. Joel began a career in audio, visual, and lighting in different capacities, such as hotels, multimedia companies and a contractor. Soon after, Joel formed Xtra Productions and became self-employed.

In 2006, the couple were blessed with their son. Brandon. The family moved to Nebraska in March 2008 and lived in O'Neill. In November 2011, the family moved to Ewing. Joel continued operating Xtra Productions, installing sound systems in the area, including churches, schools and businesses. He also did lighting and audio production for many concerts, plays, weddings, and other area productions. You always could count on Brandon being by Joel's side at any job site and learning the trade. They formed a strong bond and got to know each other very well these last two years.

Joel was a member of the Ewing Methodist-Presbyterian Church USA in Ewing. He enjoyed four-wheeling (would take rides with his son), racing, music, spending time with friends, being the DJ or stand up comedian at a party and skiing. But most importantly, Joel was a family man. He will be remembered for his "dad" jokes, stories, and memories he created with his family and friends.

Joel is survived by his wife, Marvi Pruden of Ewing; son: Brandon Pruden of Ewing; faithful companions, Snickers, Tater, Bing and Chicken Little; five siblings: Bill Coffin, Paul (Pam) Coffin, Wesley Coffin, Jon Contrell and Tony McCarthy; two half-siblings, Chris Coffin and Tracee (Coffin) Dashner; cousin, James Burtwistle and his children Samantha and Charlie; three brothers-in-law, Russell (Debbie) Thomas, Mark (Stacie) Thomas, and Keith (Carol) Nance; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Barb Pruden; and in-laws, Gene and Linda Thomas.
