Lou Ann Frasch, of Ewing, passed on to her next journey and mission in life on Oct. 25, 2023. She was 88 years old. Lou Ann was born Feb. 16, 1935, to Edward and Anna Guthmiller. After high school, Lou Ann married Rudy Frasch. They lived on the family farm near Fairfax for more than 25 years where they raised five children. Upon going their separate ways, Lou moved to the O’Neill area, where she met her loving partner of more than 40 years, Donald Ruroede. She subsequently gained a beautiful stepdaughter, Makala.

Lou moved to Ewing and purchased the Dirty Shorts Stop Laundromat, which she ran for many years. Later on, they added a car wash, which allowed her to make local automobiles sparkle and shine anytime necessary. This was in addition to having a large garden, baking goodies to share and helping Don at the Wash Out. In later years, she enjoyed working at Shamrock Nursery in O’Neill.

Lou loved to read and was a frequent visitor at the Ewing Library and Sunset Thrift Store. Although she faced many struggles as a cancer survivor, she never complained. One of her favorite sayings was, “This too shall pass.” Lou was a true lady of grace under fire. May we all practice her amazing spirit and daily friendship, in remembrance of Lou’s life and continue her giving nature.

Lou is survived by her partner, Don Ruroede, of Ewing, and his daughter Makala (Dan Peed) of Elk Point, South Dakota; Lou's children: Rodney Frasch of Norfolk; Rhonda Reicks of Norfolk; Marla Doxey of Kansas City, Missouri; Michael (Barb) Frasch of Parker, South Dakota; and Jeff (Lori) Frasch of Neligh; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many family members and friends too numerous to count.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Alvin and Marvin.
