ORDINANCE NO. 442
VILLAGE OF EWING
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF Ewing, NEBRASKA, AMENDING SEC TION 7-103 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE TO REQUIRE LANDLORDS TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR UTILITY BILLS FOR THEIR RENTAL PROPER TIES; REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CHAIRMAN AND VILLAGE BOARD AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That Section 7-103 of the municipal code of the Village of Ewing be and hereby is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 7-103: BILLING AND COLLECTIONS
A. The village clerk shall send a combined bill for charges for water, sewer and solid waste collection service to each user on or about the first day of each month. Utility bills shall be due and payable on the 15th of each month at the office of the village clerk. All utility services to rental properties, whether single or multiple units, shall be the responsibility of, billed to and paid by the owner of each premises. It shall be the duty of the utility customers of the Village to pay their bills as and when the same are mailed or otherwise delivered to them. When the due date falls on a weekend or hol iday, bills are not delinquent until 5:00 p.m. the following workday. Payments mailed to the village must be received on the due date and postmark dates are not considered. There is a night depository box by the village office door, checked daily during the work week. Any account not paid by the 15th of the month shall be assessed a late fee as set by the village board and placed on file in the office of the village clerk.
SECTION 2. That ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same hereby are repealed.
SECTION 3. That this ordinance shall go into force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law.
