PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING

August 14, 2023

The regular monthly meeting of the Village Board of Page was held Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, at the village office. This meeting was conducted in compliance with the Nebraska Open Meetings Act and the Open Meeting Laws are posted at the village office.

Chair Linquist called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. Trustees VanEvery and Leichleiter present. Also present: Kurt Campbell, Jannan Sobotka, Ron Samland and Cora Calkins. Absent: Tyrrell/Bartak seat unfilled.

Motion by Leichleiter, second by VanEvery to approve minutes of the July 10, 2023, regular meeting as presented. Passed: All ayes.

Trustee Tyrrell entered at 7:11 p.m.

Motion by Tyrrell, second by Leichleiter, to pay claims presented. Passed: Linquist, Tyrrell – Aye; Leichleiter and VanEvery abstained.

Claims paid:

GF: C. Calkins, 216.15, mileage; ColdType Publishing, 121.92, pub fees; Farmers Pride, 65.00, tank rent; Great Plains Communications, 135.01, tele/internet; Helzer, Wendy, 80.00, park cleaning; Holt Cty. Tire, 227.00, tractor rep; Hwy Allocation Savings, 772.00, Aug. match; Intuit, 145.00, QB Sub; Gayle Mahood, 150.00, spraying; McNally Law, 150.00, prof fees; NCPPD, 663.99, elec; Visa, 77.45, GF checks; IRS payroll taxes, 745.72; wages, 2,694.86.

UF: Payroll taxes, 117.57; J&J Sanitation, garbage, 1,890.80; NCPPD, elec, 343.02; NE Public Health Lab, testing, 15.00; Visa, water postage, 104.74; wages, 695.79.

Actions taken:

Funds Transfer. Motion by VanEvery, second by Leichleiter, to transfer $170.00 from UF Savings to UF Checking for deposit refunds Latzel, Dorr, and C. Mosel. Motion passed, all present – aye.

Theft of services. Refer to Attorney McNally for action.

NERWA training. Motion by VanEvery, second by Leichleiter, to allow Calkins to attend Aug. 16th at O’Neill Community Center. Passed - all ayes.

USDA water 2023-2024 budget. Budget reviewed.

Board vacancy. Motion by Tyrrell, second by Leichleiter, to appoint Kurt Campbell to fill vacancy for term ending in 2024. Motion passed - all members voting aye.

Class C Liquor License Renewal: Kountry Korner Café. No objections registered / renewed.

Animal permit: Soper. Motion by Leichleiter, second by Tyrrell to approve permit. Motion passed - all ayes.

Tractor/trailer parking at old ballfield. Motion by VanEvery, second by Leichleiter, to allow, with monthly fee of $100.00. Motion passed - all ayes.

Pre-budget discussion. Motion by Tyrell, second by Linquist, to increase maintenance wage to $17.00 p/hr. Passed Tyrrell and Linquist – aye; Leichleiter and VanEvery abstained. Motion by Leichleiter, second by Tyrrell, to raise clerk/treasurer wage to $18.00 p/hr. Passed - all present voting aye.

Motion by Leichleiter, second by Tyrrell to adjourn. Passed - all ayes.

Adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
