NORFOLK, Neb. - Registration is currently underway for anyone interested in adult education classes through Northeast Community College. Classes are held in several communities across Northeast’s 20-county service area.

The adult education department at Northeast Community College offers several services, including instruction in basic skills such as reading, writing and mathematics (ABE); preparation and testing for a high-school diploma (GED®); English as a secondlLanguage instruction; integrated education and training courses in the areas of commercial driver’s license, certified nursing assistance and medication aide, and preparation for the citizenship test.

The department can also provide information on how students may take the GED tests for free.

Emily Duncan, director of adult education at Northeast, said the program is free to anyone who is at least 16 years of age and not enrolled or required to be enrolled in secondary school under state law.

"We encourage students to schedule an intake appointment in order to register for classes and allow our team to develop a learning plan for them.”

Classes will begin at all the adult education class locations the week of Aug. 21. In addition to Norfolk, adult education classes are held in O’Neill, South Sioux City, Madison and via Zoom.
