Holt County judge doles out fines

Tyler C. Bain, 40, of Stuart faced the Honorable Kale Burdick in the Holt County courtroom in O’Neill on July 18 for arraignment on Count I, no proof of financial responsibility, a Class 2 misdemeanor committed May 6; and Count II, unsafe backing, an infraction.

Bain pleaded guilty to Count I, pursuant to a plea agreement with Holt County attorney Brent Kelly. In return, Kelly dismissed Count II. The agreement included stipulation regarding restitution owed to Deb Hilker/Farm Bureau Insurance. Burdick fined him $150, ordered $8,347 restitution. He was taxed $50 costs. Bain was self-represented.

Jayden D. Garett, 22, of Newport waived his right to counsel and pleaded guilty to Count I, no proof of financial responsibility, a Class 2 misdemeanor; and Count II, motor vehicle sale not in writing, a Class 3 misdemeanor. Burdick fined Garett $150 and $50, respectively, and taxed him $50 costs. He was cited June 3 by a Holt County deputy in Stuart.

Tina A. Anderson, 44, waived her right to counsel and pleaded guilty to a charge of driving under suspension/before reinstatement, committed June 13. Burdick fined her $100 and assessed $50 costs.

Mackenzie A. Dow, 20, of Omaha pleaded guilty, by waiver, to possession of drug paraphernalia. She was fined $100 and $49 costs. She was cited June 4 by a Nebraska State Patrol officer on Highway 275, mile marker 302.

Ryan E. Winchell pleaded guilty June 13 to a Class 2 misdemeanor, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, per terms of a plea agreement. In return, Kelly dismissed a count of failure to stop or yield and agreed to recommend a fine. Burdick fined Winchell $400 for the Feb. 17 offense and assessed $50 costs.
